Before the visit
It starts with a phone call to 709-800-7385 or the website inquiry form. We discuss the person's needs, routine, preferred schedule, location and service expectations. If the request appears suitable and non-clinical, we arrange the assessment at a time that suits the household.
What we talk about
- The daily routine — when the person wakes, eats, rests, and where the hard parts of the day fall.
- Preferences: food, language, faith, music, how much conversation is welcome and how much is not.
- Mobility and how the person moves through the home, including stairs, bathroom and entryways.
- The home environment and non-clinical safety considerations such as lighting, clutter and footing.
- Family involvement — who is nearby, who helps now, and what is wearing that person out.
- The specific services requested, and whether any of them fall outside our non-clinical scope.
- Communication: how the family wants to be kept informed, within privacy and consent requirements.
Who should be in the room
The client should be there and should do as much of the talking as they want to. It also helps to have the family member who currently carries the most day-to-day responsibility, and any authorized representative who will sign documents. More than three or four people tends to turn the conversation into a meeting, which is rarely useful.
What to have handy
- A rough weekly schedule, including any existing appointments or publicly arranged support.
- A list of the tasks that have become difficult, written down before the visit rather than recalled on the spot.
- Questions about cost, scheduling, caregiver continuity or scope.
What you receive afterwards
If the request is suitable, we prepare a personalized care plan based on the requested support, routine, preferences, communication style, mobility, home environment, family involvement and non-clinical safety needs. The plan is reviewed with the client or authorized family representative before regular services begin.
You also get straight answers on cost: $32 per hour, a three-hour standard minimum ($96 before any applicable tax), tax treatment confirmed in writing before the first invoice, and no long-term contract requirement.
If we are not the right fit
Sometimes the honest answer is that the need is clinical — nursing procedures, wound care, IV care, medication administration — or that the required schedule is beyond current caregiver capacity. We say so during or shortly after the assessment and point the family toward an appropriate provider rather than stretching our scope.
